Seay Earthmovers Ltd is proud to be involved in some of New Zealand’s most technically challenging and high-value civil infrastructure projects. Below is a snapshot of our recent and ongoing work across the geothermal, commercial, and industrial sectors.

Mercury – Rotokawa / Ngatamariki

Duration: August 2024 – Present

Working across multiple challenging geothermal locations for Mercury, we constructed drill pads for MB Century and the Big Ben drill rigs. This project involved significant cut-to-fill and cut-to-waste operations through geothermal clay substrates. Scope included levelling sites, excavating drill ponds, and metalling areas—all under strict engineering controls and within tight timeframes.es.

Woolworths Taupō Central – Watts & Hughes

Duration: June 2024 – February 2025

Partnering with Watts & Hughes, our team is responsible for bulk excavation works on a major retail development. Works include excavation for a large underground carpark, detailed footing excavations for in-situ concrete pours, backfilling against tilt panels, and resurfacing of the existing carpark with asphalt. All works are conducted in compliance with geotechnical and engineering specifications.

Project Burgundy – Laminex (Brian Perry Civil)

Duration: June 2023 – June 2024

Seay Earthmovers is undertaking bulk earthworks for the construction of a new press pit and emissions building. This includes excavating, constructing, and metalling a 20,000 sqm log yard, as well as infilling tilt slab building cells. Environmental compliance and cleanliness are top priorities, alongside adherence to a strict ITP schedule (including compaction and density testing).

Contact Energy Ltd – Geothermal Drill Sites

Duration: July 2011 – Present

For over 25 years, Seay Earthmovers has partnered with Contact Energy Ltd on a range of projects, including the Aurora steam field development across the Te Mihi, Tauhara, and Ohaaki fields. Notable works include the development of a 7.2 km "T-line" reinjection pipeline connecting flash plants 9, 12, and 14, and the construction of triple drill sites near the Te Mihi Power Station.

MB Century – MRP Drill Site Development

Duration: 2-Year Rolling Contract

Under contract with MB Century, we provide full drill site development services across Mighty River Power's geothermal portfolio in the Taupō Volcanic Zone. Our scope includes erosion and sediment control compliant with Environment Waikato standards, construction of access roads, well pads, campsites, and car parks.
